Often building web sites at an enormous cost with the ongoing problems associated with maintaining it. So difficult is it for some that they have infact withdrawn financial support for the ongoing maintenance. At the same time there remains a lot of controversy to the real benefit gained by having a web site. How do you quantify the financial benefit of maintaining a web site? The failure of many sites is due to the difficulty of their operation, the mechanics of the site itself
eg: fies to big, or the confusing way in which information is to be gained from the site. As a designer the communication of information in conjunction with a strong visual identity should be achievable. It shouldn’t be necessary to sacrifice one for the sake of the other.
